Bring your pastors and volunteer leaders for a day of teaching, training and networking. The purpose of Leadership Matrix is to develop strong and healthy leaders within the congregation, so that your church is empowered and equipped to lead out in mission and ministry in your community. Registration is $35 per person. For four or more people from one church, the registration is $30 per person.

Ginny Olson – Ginny is co-director of Nork Park University's Center for Youth Ministry Studies in Chicago, IL where she works with both undergraduate and seminary students. She has been involved in youth ministry for over 20 years at various churches, non-profits and camps, including serving on staff in the junior high ministry at Willow Creek Community Church. She is the author of Teenage Girls: Exploring Issues Adolescent Girls Face and Strategies to Help Them, as well as the co-author of Youth Ministry Management Tools, and was an editor and contributing writer for Breaking the Gender Barrier in Youth Ministry.
Harold Spooner— Harold is president of Covenant Initiatives for Care, Inc. (CIC), and executive vice president of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence (CMB). His responsibilities include oversight of ministries which include homes for developmentally disabled adults, children’s homes and ministries to families affected by domestic violence. It also includes working with the Department of Compassion, Mercy, and Justice (CMJ) and conference administration in the development of CMJ ministries.

Developing a Healthy Church Staff—In any church with a multiple staff, the quality of the staff relationships and level or trust, cooperation and teamwork will have a powerful influence on the whole church. This seminar is designed for Lead Pastors and church staff members to explore ways to develop healthy staff dynamics in the local church. Led by John Jenks--Pastor, Cascade Covenant Church
Ministry and the Stress of the Familiar: High Seas or the Doldrums? This seminar will look at some of the more hidden stresses of ministry and offers suggestions that can help pastors/staff sustain themselves amidst their work. For those in ministry positions ,but also for those who love and support them. Led by Dave Wells - NPC Care Pastor Ministry Coordinator
Analyzing Your Church’s Growth and Giving Trends. This session will offer practical ways for staff and church leaders to better understand their church’s growth and giving. Suggestions for “troubleshooting” attendance patterns and practical ways to strengthen and expand congregational giving will be presented. Led by Don Robinson-NPC Associate Superintendent
Christian Community Development and Stewardship - God called your church to a specific neighborhood, community, and city. Can we re-invent a parish model of ministry? What is the church’s role as Salt & Light in the neighborhood and in our culture? What does it mean to be a steward of our community, its systems and its people? How can we create and cultivate cultural norms and values of outreach and engagement with in our churches? Led by Harvey Drake (Pastor, Emerald City Bible Fellowship) and Steve Bury (Executive Director, Urban Impact)
Children’s Ministry: Orange Strategy--This seminar we will explore a Children's Ministry strategy that combines the influence of the home with the influence of the church. Part of this strategy involves a curriculum that creatively engages kids and their parents while teaching biblical truths. Volunteers are vital to implementing any strategy or curriculum so we'll also review some recruiting tips and techniques! Led by Angela McCann--CM Director Cascade Covenant Church.
Women Ministries: Developing a Leadership Team--Are you on a leadership team or wish there was one? This seminar introduces you to tools and resources for exploring your leadership ifts and designing effective women ministries that grow and strengthen the church. Led by Lenore Three Stars and Lorie Harmon (Women Ministry Coaches)
Afternoon Seminars (2:30 pm)
Church Chairs, what are they good for? This seminar is designed for church chairs and /or pastors and will explore ways to leverage the unique role of the chair for the health the local church and its staff. Led by Mark Novak-NPC Superintendent
Making Meetings Meaningful—Transforming the soul of leadership. Many church leaders have a “functional identity” rather than a “theological or Biblical identity.” In a church culture that pressures staff and leaders to “perform” this session will explore ways to strengthen the soul of leadership helping them lead from a place of recognizing God’s grace and goodness. Led by Don Robinson-NPC Associate Superintendent
Church Planting through Parenting. We will address some of the common questions asked by congregational leaders and members as they consider parenting a new church. For example, “Why plant a new church? Aren’t there enough churches? What will be required of us? What is the role of the North Pacific Conference and the denomination? Is there a difference between parenting and partnering? What will it “cost” us? Led by Kurt Carlson—NPC Director of Church Planting
The Straight Path Into the Kingdom. How Jesus radically changes the conversation between Muslims and Christians. 50% of the world claims allegiance to One God. But it seems the globe is on fire with religious extremism, hate and vitriol between Muslims and Christians. This seminar explores how Jesus calls us to engage Muslims with the Gospel, bearing fruit for the Kingdom of God. Led by Andy Larsen (Covenant World Mission) and Michael Ly
When Sugar and Spice Turns Toxic: Relational and Physical Aggression Among Girls—It used to be that girls would bully another girl by ignoring her or writing names on her locker. Now girls are using technology to spread rumors via texting or Facebook. Or they’re setting a girl up and showing the fight on YouTube. This seminar will look at the characteristics of relational and physical aggression, how it’s morphing and how to deal with it in your youth ministry. Led by Ginny Olson
